Why Retreat?

breathgiveslife retreat

Commiting to a retreat may be something new, and like anything we do for the first time can often put us out of our comfort zone. However one of the best antidotes to overcoming habits and routines that may  not be serving you mentally, emotionally & physically is to disrupt them. To do something new; like attending a retreat for well-being, may feel odd or challenging, but it offers an opportunity to change the way things are done.

“If you always do what you’ve always done, you always get what you’ve always gotten.”

Jessie Potter

A retreat space creates a different tone to daily routines, often our ability to thrive is rooted in the energetic space we live in.  A retreat offers pause  from the usual daily distractions that inhabit this space,  to transport you into a place that elevates your energy and life force.

There is an opportunity to be both: social & secluded. Seclusion not like being alone, but as  freedom from your thoughts as we turn to tools  like; yoga, meditation and nature immersion as powerful ways to calm down thoughts & release tensions to experience freedom from the busy mind. Social, when we come together, with the common goal to feel good,  enjoy vibrant food and practice techniques that empty out, nurture and replenish, there is a potent transmission that occurs.

Retreats are a wonderful way to reset focus. In an uncertain post covid world, we are more tense, stressed & exhausted.  Even more important than ever to put the phone away, turn off the telly & radio, and just allow yourself to be present. Present to your breath, to silence,  the sensations and sounds sitting in or walking through the forest and  the taste of your food. A few days  living simply and away from technological distraction has an incredible impact on the nervous system, and can be really helpful in resetting focus, improving energy and shifting perspective.

“If you only read the books that everyone else is reading, you can only think what everyone else is thinking.”

When you step outside of your daily routines and give yourself the experience to fully focus on increasing your vitality it has a far reaching effect not just for yourself but those around you. When  energy is uplifted so to is the capacity to remain steady and respond in ways that in turn also uplift. You become better at meeting your own needs, and for those around you.
